June 2009 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to our newsletter on the web and we trust you find it informative.
It's been a busy year for me since I started last May 12th 2008 as the new Administrator managing the office and admin based out of our Brooms Road premises. Firstly I would like to apologise in the delay in updating the website. I do hope to be able to provide a newsletter more frequently than every two years!
Thanks to everyone pulling together in the past we raised over £20,000 which secured funding for one of the two minibuses we required for the Forestry & Gardening project and for one of four scooters needed to replace existing stock for Shopmobility.
We are grateful to our contacts in Dumfries & Galloway Council for their continued support and help in sourcing funding and as a result were able to secure an NHS grant last year of£3500 for scooters. This year we gratefully acknowledge the help of the Moorheads Trust in sourcing funding of £1600 for scooters.
We thank Lloyds TSB for their continued support over the years in helping towards funding two new minibuses, as well as more recently funds towards the resurrection of a woodworking workshop which allows further training and opportunities for our service users during inclement weather.
Like any charity we have to continue with our fund raising efforts and to find other suitable grants and sources for revenue. This current year we are looking to replace one of our three minibuses used in the Forestry and Gardening Project.
Our shopmobility project suffered a number of mishaps with equipmnet this past year and having to replace more scooters than anticipated in order to continue to maintain the level of service provided in previous years.
The Trustees are seeking two new members to add to their numbers and would particularly welcome anyone with a Business Management background and another with a background in Social Welfare. Anyone who is interested, or knows of someone who may be should contact us on 01387 247580. We will happy to talk to you and answer any questions you may have.
The Trustees are currently looking at new literature for the Care Trust and Forestry & Gardening project and a corporate logo we can identify with and become known for the foreseeable future. We hope to have this logo on the website before Christmas.
Our AGM has been set for Wednesday 7th October 2009 at 7p.m and will be held at our offices at 78 Brooms Road, Dumfries. All are welcome to attend.
