SEPTEMBER 2007 NEWSLETTER

Welcome to our second newsletter on the web and we trust you find it informative.

It's been a busy two months since our last newsletter with great efforts from staff and Trustees to raise our profile, for fund raising, and to get used to the many recent changes to the Trust.

Thanks to everyone pulling together we have already raised over £20,000 which has secured funding for one of the two minibuses we require for the Forestry & Gardening project and for one of four scooters needed to replace existing stock for Shopmobility.

Like any charity we have to continue with our fund raising efforts and to find other suitable grants and sources for revenue. On top of the equipment we are are trying to replace we are seeking to improve the funds that Shopmobility has at its disposal which at present leave us very near the edge.

The Trustees are seeking two new members to add to their numbers and would particularly welcome anyone with a Business Management background and another with a background in Social Welfare. Anyone who is interested, or knows of someone who may be should contact the Trustees who will happy to talk to you and answer any questions you may have.

We are formulating a new three year Business Plan which is part of our Service contract with Dumfries & Galloway Council and will be our base document when applying for new grants etc. The work for this has been greatly assisted by Sally Thomson who recently conducted a three month Business Review on our behalf as part of a grant from Community Scotland.

The Trustees are currently looking at new literature for the Care Trust and Forestry & Gardening project and a corporate logo we can identify with and become known for the foreseeable future. We hope to have first drafts available before Christmas.

Our 18th AGM has been set for Wednessday 7th November 2007 at 7p.m and will be held at our offices at 78 Brooms Road, Dumfries.
